This was the second Nightshoot at RAF Northolt for 2012, it was number 13 in the series.
Phil Dawe had, once again, organised the event, which, for this Nightshoot, was based around Helicopters.
On arrival there was very little present, only a Belgian Air Force Agusta A-109, a Westland Sea King and a 32 Sqn A-109.
At this time of the evening the sky was gorgeous. About an hour or so later 3 AAC Helicopters arrived together.
What a sight it was with 3 Helicopters appearing out of the darkness. They were a Bell 212, Westland Gazelle and Westland Lynx.
The event was coming together nicely! At about 8.30PM the highlight for me arrived, there was a 'gas and go' by a Chinook, lovely!
Also making a welcome appearence at the event was the Metropolitan Police's EC-145 Eurocopter, G-MPSA.
The serials of the aircraft involved were RN Westland Sea King ASaC.7 XV649/CU-180, Belgian Army Agusta A-109HO H20 in Medivac fit,
RAF Northolt based 32 Squadron Agusta A-109E ZR322 and BAe HS-125 CC3 ZD704, AAC Bell 212 ZJ964/D,
AAC Westland Gazelle AH.1 XZ345 and AAC Westland Lynx AH7 XZ196/T. The 'Gas and Go' Boeing HC.2 Chinook was ZA704.
Thanks to one of Phil Dawe's famous rain dances the weather was great as was the light!
This Nightshoot was definitely one of my favourites with the mix of aircraft and the terrific atmosphere,
also, the close proximity to taking off and landing aircraft made it an event to remember.
